It is ok at your age and is a safe treatment.

Ativan belongs to a group of drugs called benzodiazepines. There is a lot of confusion about addiction for these types of drugs. “Addiction” can mean different things, but the standard definition would be that someone craves it, have a difficult time quitting, has tolerance (they need a larger dose for the same effect), and is dependent (they get withdrawal if they stop). Physically, if you use them every day, you usually get some tolerance to benzodiazepines and get withdrawal if you stop suddenly. This alone is NOT addiction. Benzodiazepines are very important medications for a lot of people. People who take them every day usually cannot stop them suddenly, but they are just fine if the dose is lowered slowly over time. Most people do not experience cravings or become psychologically addicted. I don’t think you have anything to worry about as far as addiction. You are using it for a legitimate and important reason. If you need to use it often enough, you may need larger doses, but these larger doses will not harm you, and it does not mean you will have any trouble stopping as long as the dose is lowered slowly.

Ativan can be very effective at controlling panic attacks, so I think it will be very helpful for you.
