Mirpur Diarrhoea Treatment Centre – ICDDR,B opened a new urban treatment centre in April 2009 to cope with the rise in diarrhoeal disease in Dhaka. This 50-bed hospital began operations on Thursday April 30 inside the government Unani and Ayurvedic Degree College and Hospital, and it began saving lives within a day of its operation, treating patients arriving so dehydrated they wouldn’t have survived the journey to the Dhaka Hospital main campus.
