Opening Up to Alternative Drug Rehabs

If you are struggling with drug addiction or alcoholism then you might consider going to an alternative treatment center. Most rehab in the industry are based on the 12 step model, but of course there are some alternatives out there. One such alternative would attending a religious or Christian drug rehab somewhere.

Many people are turned off by the idea of the religious element thrown in with their substance abuse treatment, but in most cases people do not seem to mind it once they have tried it and given it a fair chance. Keep in mind that I am not trying to convert anyone here. In a lot of cases, people who end up attending a religious rehab do not really have a choice about going. They are at the end of their line and they have no where left to go and no where left to turn to. It is in these cases that people can finally become open minded enough to really benefit from a unique message about recovery.

Now obviously a religious message is not for everyone in recovery. Not every rehab should be religious based, and in fact most should probably not be. But if you have the opportunity to go to a rehab and it happens to be religious based, then you should approach it with an open mind and see what you can get out of it. Don’t take the approach that you have to be converted in order to stay clean and sober, because that is not the case at all. Instead, take the approach that you are going to take what you can out of the experience and use it for good.

There are a lot of rehabs out there that are religious based, and if you find yourself going to one, even against your own will, then you should still make the best of it. You can learn a lot, and it is not all going to be religion being crammed down your throat. You can learn a lot about recovery as well.
